My name is Jade Yates, I am currently a rising senior at Temple University majoring in Media Production. Upon graduation, I seek to become the Creative Director at a major network. This past summer I was an intern at the District of Columbia Department of Insurance and Securities where I taught financial literacy to youth and was the Social Media Manager for Check It Enterprises. Now, while enrolled at Temple, I work at an Urban Outfitters store near campus. I have also been researching summer internships intensively.
When I am not working, studying, or curating events, I volunteer at Temple’s call center where I help raise money for scholarships for Temple students through Alumni donations. I am a proud member of Melanin Uprising, a youth collective that teaches other youth about social justice movements and self-love during school breaks at home in southeast DC.
It is no secret that college costs a significant amount of money and even with grants and Federal Student Loans I have yet to be able to cover the full cost of attendance. I am determined to complete my last year and a half of school and to do so without drowning in student loan debt or private loans with unreasonable terms.
This is where you come in. I am taking a creative approach to cover the outstanding funding I need by applying for a loan through Pay Your Tuition (PYT). As part of that process, I am required to come up with 20 percent of the loan amount to increase my chances of approval in order to apply. So please donate and encourage others to do the same. I am sure we can do this together! Thank you in advance for your support.
