My name is Eric, and I am a 39-year-old father of 2 who is *this close* to graduating with my first degree! Just out of high school, I began a degree program in the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University, but due to a number of factors (my father becoming ill, homesickness, and immaturity being chief among them) I never graduated.
I was fortunate enough at the time to discover an aptitude for computers, and find a job in Information Technology back when having aptitude and interest was enough. After spending a year at an entry-level "help desk" job, I caught on with my current employer -- one of Ohio's largest school districts -- and worked my way up from a tier I computer technician to managing the Help Desk. Along the way, I taught myself how to program and have earned more than 15 independent certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, CIW, and others.Â
Several years ago I decided to return to school, hoping that earning my degree would open a door to Administration. I enrolled at Western Governors University, starting anew in their Information Technology (Security) program. Three-quarters of the way to my degree, my financial aid ran out...and I now find myself stuck, unable to come up with the money needed to finish my program.
Hence, I am turning to you for help! I presently stand needing 32 credits to graduate (approximately two terms). Upon achieving my degree, I intend to stay in public education and seek a position as a Technology Coordinator -- after spending near 20 years "in the trenches," I think I'd make a darned good one! If you can help me get there, I'd be eternally grateful.
