Help me finish my Master of Social Work degree at Howard University.

Terrance Tillison

My name is Terrance. I have already completed my first year of graduated school here at Howard University. Unfortunately, I am forced to ask for assistance with my school tuition this year, due to financial hardship. I’m seeking $11,000 to pay off a balance owed to the housing department to continue working on my Master of Social Work degree at Howard University. As you will see from my unofficial college transcripts before transferring to Howard University I attended Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) where I maintained a 3.3 grade point average. I take my education seriously. What you will not see reflected in those transcripts is my personal situation, which I need to share with you. After my first year at Howard University my GPA dropped significantly. It was very disappointing to say the least. As a father of four beautiful children, I must work full-time while attending school, to stay afloat. During summer vacation, I received limited hours at my job, struggling to make ends meet. In an attempt to provide for my family and pay for school I took on another job, but I was barley able to keep my head above water. As such my studies suffered severely in school. This personal financial hardship is the reason I am writing you this letter. Completing my education and earning my master degree is very important to me. With the help of you, family, friends, PYT Funds Inc. and applying for student financial aid and scholarships; I feel I can still accomplish my goals and provide a good example for my children to follow. I must admit I wanted to give-up, but quitting is not an option. I feel rejuvenated and ready to get back on track to complete my journey and fulfill my dream of graduating from Howard University School of Social Work. After completion of my Master degree I will continue to assist with the development of others on an individual and community level.
